Well, it has been a long road, but I celebrated my Athens-versary in July! I can remember packing up my car and making the 12 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Athens. It doesn’t feel like i have lived here as long as I have, really. Athens has grown and changed so much in the time i have lived here. And I would have never guessed I would be part of that change. I love having my Tofu Baby comic in the paper, and I love having our very own Mini Gallery down town. I love that we have a house, and I love that I have Raoul, Nilla, and Oreo to live in it with me.
In honor of International Zine Month, I made a new Dork Lifestyle comic. Dork Lifestyle are comics I make about my life. The very first one was made my final year of college. It documents dreams, happenings with friends, music, and anything I felt like writing about. I thought nothing of it for years, but I still made and sold this zine.
In 2009, my friend Ernessa T. Carter started Fierce and Nerdy, a website with different contributors as bloggers. She asked me to join, so each month I drew a comic about stuff that happened to me. It was fun, some months were harder to find the subject matter. I kept it going then published them as Dork Lifestyle numbered zines.
I decided to make a new Dork Lifestyle comic and continue making these for Rancho Cocoa! I hope you like the new addition, and I hope it keeps me up on my comics and story telling!
